about

Included *exclusively* with this Bandcamp release is an additional bonus track!

Formed in 1988, Of Love and Justice (in its original 4-piece lineup) was a band hailing from the heart of Houston, TX, with their roots firmly planted in the late 80s. Their earliest recordings, captured here in the release 'We All Start Somewhere' (Gradation Music, 2023), gives a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the band's initial spark of creativity, as restored from lost cassette tape recordings.

'We All Start Somewhere' is a chronicle of the band's beginning, with Jeremy Eastham providing lead vocals and showcasing the emerging sound that set them on their path. Standout early tracks, such as “Solitude of Life”, “Lonely Hearts” and “Neverland” capture the band in their infancy, as they began to perfect their original sound, still rough around the edges, but bursting with potential and laying the groundwork for their later success.

By 1989, Eastham had exited the group and the band settled on their definitive three-piece lineup, as heard on the band's posthumous debut retro-release 'Revolution 1989' (Gradation Music, 2014). With Ferni Lopez taking the helm as lead vocalist, alongside bassist Steve 'Kosher' Doria and drummer Eric Siebert, Of Love and Justice began to carve their own path in the Houston scene, defying categorization and standing out amidst the sea of metal, funk-rock, and blues bands that dominated the scene at the time.

Of Love and Justice may have been short-lived, but their legacy lives on in their music, a testament to the power of passion and creativity in the face of obstacles.
